- Add school and after-school places as safe zones and departure and arrival alerts arrive automatically.
- The return-home alert needs no setup — it works out where home is.
- While they are moving, distance remaining and arrival time tell you how far along they are.
The three things parents want to know
| The question | How DOKOPANG answers it |
|---|---|
| Have they left school? | The school safe zone's exit alert |
| How far along are they? | Live status, distance remaining, estimated arrival time |
| Did they get to their activity? | The activity safe zone's entry alert |
| Are they home? | The return-home alert, worked out automatically |
Setting up the alerts
You need to be connected to your child in DOKOPANG first — see how to check your child's location. Then, in the Safety tab:
- Add school — 200 m radius, exit alert onUse quick add. A school with grounds covers a wide area, so 200 m fits. If you only care about home time, turn the entry alert off and leave the exit alert on.
- Set school weekdays — Monday to FridayWith weekdays only, walking past school at the weekend triggers nothing.
- Add the after-school place — 50 m radius, entry alert onA room inside a building is better drawn tightly. Pick only the days they attend.
- You do not need to add homeThe return-home alert is worked out from everyday movement patterns.
- Check your child's profile settingsSelect them on the main screen and confirm place entry and exit alerts are on.
Too small a radius and GPS drift makes alerts fire repeatedly; too large and the alert arrives before they really get there. If you are not sure what to add, the suggested safe zones list is built from the places your child has actually spent time in over the past month.
"How far along are they?" on the live screen
While your child is on the move, the DOKOPANG main screen shows distance and time travelled, distance remaining, mode of travel and estimated arrival. You can see they are about five minutes away without calling.
On top of that sits AI prediction: it learns their usual pattern, shows where they are likely heading with a confidence level, and when everything looks normal it simply says the pattern matches the usual one.
Right after someone sets off, or when the direction is unclear, it says the direction is not certain yet rather than guessing. The longer the app is used, the more accurate the prediction becomes.
Safe-zone alerts and AI arrival prediction are free in DOKOPANG.
When they are late home
Turn on risk prediction alerts in your child's profile settings (they are off by default) and DOKOPANG tells you about a delayed return, a destination they do not normally visit, or travel late at night. Push notifications are sent only for urgent and caution levels, so small things do not flood your phone.
- Agree with your child that they message you before an alert would reach you.
- If the location has not changed for a long time, check their phone's power, connection and location permission.
- On iPhone, location does not update while they stay in one place — a frozen location does not mean something is wrong.
- Predictions are for reference. When you are worried, call straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get arrival alerts only on the days my child has an activity?
Yes. Each safe zone has its own weekday setting, so for a Monday, Wednesday and Friday activity you turn on just those days. Set school to weekdays only and no alerts arrive at the weekend.
I am not getting the leaving-school alert.
Check in order: that the place has entry and exit alerts on and today is one of its weekdays, that place entry and exit alerts are on in your child's profile settings, that location permission on their phone is set to "Always", and that notifications are allowed on their device.
The school alerts keep firing repeatedly.
If the radius is small for the size of the place, GPS drift can trigger entry and exit over and over. For a large site such as a school with grounds, widen the radius to 200 m.
